Thomas Kjærgaard about Sustainable Development Goals at the PMA 2014 Conference
Another presentation allotted to sustainability was provided on the second day of the PMA 2014 Conference by Postdoc. Thomas Kjærgaard, from the Aarhus University.
The research study was named “Integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Measures for Sustainability Performance in Corporate Value Chains Reported to Multi-stakeholder Standards”, and aimed at illustrating the potential for collaborative governance between Global Reporting Initiative and United Nations Global Compact in the context of corporate value chains.
Thomas Kjærgaard discovered that both standards lack in maturity when it comes to measuring sustainability performance in corporate value chains.
Another key point of Kjærgaard’s research was demonstrating how corporate performance and sustainable development can be supported through the design of dynamic reporting standards and innovative governance mechanisms.
Thomas Kjærgaard also concludes that, if organizations adopted this approach and developed streamlined performance reports, their transparency for stakeholders would significantly increase, having as a major consequence the latter’s engagement.
