The KPI Institute’s Performance Management in 2014: GCC Special Edition report followed one of our most important editorial rules, namely the triangulation of opinions gathered from practitioners, academics and consultants alike. In the last two decades, our world has seen massive improvements in the overall quality of life on Earth. Fewer armed conflicts, fewer battle-related deaths, more trading, communication and investment, according to the Uppsala University’s Conflict Data Program.
On the one hand, the past decade has seen groundbreaking developments in technology, communications, and science, to name only a few fields. Today we are talking, and beyond that, actually planning outer planetary colonization and possibly even asteroid exploitation missions.
We live in an era where huge amounts of information are being processed every day and usually this type of overload becomes inordinate. Fortunately here is where data visualization comes in, extracting meaning from data and presenting it in a comprehensive manner that can be subjected to interpretation.
In Part I and Part II of this article, we emphasized the need to base decisions on data, as this leads to improved results, and we discussed about the decision-making process and the techniques we can use to ensure relevant decisions are made.
