Bert de Winter on analytics and business performance at Hewlett-Packard
PERFORMANCE Magazine was present at the Supply Chain Analytics conference in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in order to gain first-hand access to all the valuable insights shared by professionals in the field.
Bert de Winter, Logistics Director at Hewlett-Packard EMEA, was among the experts interviewed by our team on the scene.
As he admitted, the Supply Chain holds the key to understanding not only how suppliers operate, but also, when Analytics are performed regularly, on how further innovations and improvement measures can be taken in regards to customers, suppliers, the manufacturing process and so forth.
When asked about best practices in the field, Bert de Winter explained how, at Hewlett-Packard, they invested in training their employees and even organized a special event, the Supply Chain Academy, where employees can see and undertake big business challenges and come up with their own solutions.
However, the Supply Chain Analytics does not lack its share of challenges as they often face data accuracy issues, data availability and Big Data management. In order to gain control over these problems, but also to take example of some best practices in the domain, Bert de Winter recommends looking at other companies, especially those within the IT domain, like Google. By seeing how these organizations use Big Data, both for business purposes, but also to their advantage, other companies can learn valuable lessons and apply the on their own businesses.
