With Laurens van der Drift on Supply Chain Analytics
The Supply Chain Analytics conference took place between the 3 – 5 June, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During this time, the PERFORMANCE Magazine team was present to extract valuable information from the experts gathered there.
Laurens van de Drift hold the position of Consultant within the Macomi Systems Simulation organization, a company dealing with business simulation systems.
From his point of view, improving performance within the organization and, more specifically, within the supply chain, is an indisputable issue: it has to be done. However, a lot of effort has to be done beforehand, meaning that the KPI owners should make sure that they are tracking the right kind of data, and thus avoid the risk of misinterpretation or misuse of available data.
When asked about the 2015 trends, Laurens van der Drift focused only on Big Data and what the next step in this area will be. Namely, now that there are tools that collect all the data, the focus must pass onto tools that extract valuable data, such as machine algorithms which are self-learning and combine artificial intelligence with human interpretation.
